  Carl Latann (1840 - 1888) was commissioned in 1871 with the direction of the music corps of the "II. Matrosendivision (Marinemusikkorps)". The attempt to establish a music school in Wilhelmshaven as well as employment in Jever and Nijmegen / Netherlands were not successful for him. His admirable march, "Admiral Stosch", is reminiscent of Albrecht von Stosch (1818-1896), the first chief of the newly founded German admiralty.
