    The waltz "The Blue Danube" (often simply called the Danube Waltz) was composed by Johann Strauss II in late autumn 1866 and winter 1866/67 and premiered on February 15, 1867, in his own version with the Vienna Men's Choral Society. The first performance of the concert version of the waltz, published as opus 314, took place on March 10, 1867, in the Imperial and Royal People's Garden.
