1st voice in Bb / 2nd voice in Bb / 3rd voice in Bb / 3rd voice in F / Drum (ad lib,)"The Good Comrade" was composed by Ludwig Uhland in 1809 and arranged by Friedrich Silcher in 1825. As a song it is better known under the first line of the first stanza: "I have a Comrade."
The song is played at mourning parties, especially when the deceased was a member of an orchestra. The song is presented only in exceptional cases, but only by intonation of the generally known melody with a marching band or a single trumpet.
Even in non-German-speaking countries, the song is popular in English, French, Italian and Spanish, and belongs in some countries (for example, in Chile and Bulgaria) to the traditional songs of the armed forces.
The song was created in 1809 under the impression of the use of "Baden" troops under French orders against insurgent Tyrolese, whereby Uhland had relations on both sides. Although the poem had already been tuned, Friedrich Silcher changed a Swiss folk song to create the now known version. This is not your instrumentation, you need another?
