Karl Millöcker (1842-1899) In his youthful years he studied flute and musical theory at the Conservatory in Vienna. At the age of 16 Karl Millöcker plays as a flutist in the Orchestra of the Josefstädter Theater. Franz von Suppé, who soon becomes aware of the talented flautist and encourages him, also acts there. In 1864 Millocker was promised to Graz, on the recommendation of Suppé as a theater conductor.

With a knowledge of the stage-work, of the scenic-striking, Millöcker is superior to Johann Strauss, who also penetrates the stage from the ballroom. Karl Millöcker occupies an important place in the history of operetta. Together with Johann Strauss, Franz von Suppé and Carl Zeller he is the representative of the classical golden Viennese operetta. Karl Millocker has a solid set of movements and is very talented in writing insistent melodies.

Karl Millöcker dies 58 years old on 31 December 1899 in Baden near Vienna.
