John Philip Sousa (1854 - 1932) Composer and conductor of military bands.
Sousa was also referred to as the "King of Marching Music." On his initiative the "Sousaphone" was developed. From 1880, he directed the "United States Marine Band", which has been the official orchestra of the President since then. Sousa composed some 100 works, most of which are today the standards of every brass band.
With the work "Bonnie-Annie-Laurie" he created an adaptation of an old Scottish Folksong. This was adapted in this issue to the needs and occupation of today's wind orchestra.
