from Felix Mendelssohn-Bartholdy
with critical reportSize DIN A4, spiral ring binding
At the age of nine, Felix-Mendelssohn-Bartholdy conducted smaller orchestras at evening events, which his father arranged. At twelve he met the well-known opera composer Carl Maria von Weber, whom he then revered, and at thirteen he was allowed to play Goethe, who was deeply impressed.
Already at the age of 17, he composed the familiar "Sommernachtstraum Overture", and at the age of 20 he introduced a Bach Renaissance with the performance of the "Matthäus Passion". Later, Mendelssohn worked epicaxially at the "Gewandhausorchester in Leipzig" and founded the first music conservatorium in Germany.
The first edition of this book is the first to publish 10 works from the year 1820 by Felix Mendelssohn-Bartholdy, which he wrote at the age of just eleven years. Often, the brilliant melody and harmony of the composer, who was later so brilliant, can already be seen. These treasures are, however, also suitable for the teaching of the piano in the development of the independence of both hands.
The publisher thanks the "Staatsbibliothek zu Berlin - Preußischer Kulturbesitz", music department with Mendelssohn Archive, for the friendly provision of the corresponding autographs.
