  • Flute in C, Alto-Saxophone in Eb, Clarinet in Bb, Bass Clarinet in Bb, Fagott/Bassoon in C

"Rarely will one find music of this kind that fits together so well, understands itself so well, and, especially in carrying the sound, has attained such a high degree of truth and perfection as this." So Boßler's Musical Correspondence (1791) in Speyer on the Harmonie Tafelmusik of the Cologne Elector Max Franz, for whom the young Ludwig van Beethoven composed the most important of his wind works. Other, mostly marginal tailoring, emerged in the Bonn youth years for friends and acquaintances from the circle of the kurkölnischen residence city. Only a few of these works later appeared under Beethoven's 137 printed Opera; most of them are included in the composer's catalog of works under the "Werke ohne Opusnummer" (WoO).
