    One of the most beautiful classical serenades

    Sir Edward William Elgar, 1st Baronet (1857 - 1934) was a British composer. At 16, he decided to pursue a musical education. In 1877 he took violin lessons at Politzer in London; As a composer he was self-taught. In 1904, Elgar became a professor at the "University of Birmingham".

    As his most widely known work, "Land of Hope and Glory" is based on the "Pomp and Circumstance March No. 1". In addition to "Rule", "Britannia!" And "God Save the Queen/King", it is the most famous British Anthem. Edward Elgar was the first outstanding composer in England since George Frideric Handel. His portrait graced the 20-pound banknotes until 2007.
