    Friedrich Spohr (* 1830; † 1896) was a German military musician. He became head of the music corps of the "3rd Royal Saxon.. Infantry Regiment No. 102" in 1868. "Prince Regent Luitpold of Bavaria" was appointed in Zittau and appointed as Music Director in 1882.

    Spohr composed the march "Greetings to Kiell" in 1864, in memory of the arrival of Saxon troops in Kiel during the German-Danish War, in which he had participated.

    "Greetings to Kiel" was the Parademarch of the "3rd Royal Saxon Infantry Regiment No. 102", Zittau Due to his title, "Greetings to Kiel" later quickly became a popular Marinemarsch, especially when from 1890 under Kaiser Wilhelm II the massive expansion of the German fleet began. In the role as a sign of the naval force, the march has now become internationally known. "Greetings to Kiel" with the staff of the "Wehrbereichskommando 1" as well as the "Naval Commando North" as a traditional march.

    In Switzerland, the march is also known as the "Zofinger March" (named after the town of the same name in the canton of Aargau). A detail, however, makes the Zofinger march with the locals only to the same: In a real "Zofinger March", in contrast to the "Greetings to Kiel" additional tambours are used.
