  The Monte Cervino (Matterhorn) lies with its 4477 m altitude in the Valais Alps on the border between Switzerland and Italy. During a musical guest performance by the composers Achim Graf and Peter Welte at the foot of Monte Cervino, the wonderful scenery of the Valais Alps and the hospitality of the inhabitants made the wonderful waltzes on the spot.

  In 1931 the German brothers Franz and Toni Schmid first mounted the infamous north wall.
