    Gabriel Pierné (born August 16, 1863, † July 17, 1937) was a French composer and conductor.

    He studied at the Paris Conservatory with Antoine François Marmontel, Cesar Franck and Jules Massenet. He won the Prix de Rome in 1882 with the cantata Edith and then worked from 1890 to 1898 as an organist to Ste-Clotilde. In 1903 he became deputy of Édouard Colonne as head of the named after this Concerts Colonne, which he conducted from 1910 to 1934 alone. As a conductor, he achieved great fame.

    He composed six operas, several ballets and pantomimes, oratorios, orchestral and chamber music works as well as pieces for organ, harp and piano.
