Swing for Wind Band by Fred Fisher
ca.: 2:40 Min.
Stufe 3+
Arr.: Achim Graf, Peter WelteFred Fisher (1875 - 1942) German composer born in Cologne and emigrated to Chicago. The score of "Chicago" reached the million mark very quickly in 1922 and was therefore worth a cover version for many performers. The many versions show "Chicago" belonged to the standard repertoire of the "Golden Twenties" and beyond to this day, of course also in Europe.
Frank Sinatra, who took up the title in Hollywood in 1957, also presented him as a concert act in honor of Fred Fisher at his last European concert in 1993 at the Roncalliplatz in Cologne.
The composer was always silent about the addition of "That Toddling Town" (swaying, staggering). To this day is not clear, this addition was meant to be critical or as homage.
This wind band rarrangement is a modern sounding swing edition of this wonderful melody.
